In a move aimed at easing late-night travel for cricket fans, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced extended last train timings across all metro lines on April 8, 2026, coinciding with the Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

With thousands expected to attend the high-profile Indian Premier League fixture, the decision ensures smoother dispersal of crowds after the match, reducing reliance on road transport and minimizing congestion in central Delhi.

The revised schedule significantly pushes back last train departures on several key corridors, with some services now running well past midnight. On the Red Line (Line 1), trains will operate until around 12:10 am to 12:15 am, while the Blue Line (Line 3/4) and Violet Line (Line 6) also see extensions stretching close to or beyond midnight.

Notably, certain stretches of the Pink Line (Line 7) and Magenta Line (Line 8) will run as late as 1:30 am to 2:20 am, offering extended connectivity for fans traveling to distant parts of the National Capital Region. The Airport Express Line has also been adjusted, with last departures now scheduled up to 1:15 am.

However, not all lines see uniform extensions. Some routes, such as parts of Line 2, will largely maintain their usual schedules, with only minor adjustments. Passengers are advised to check station-specific timings, as last train availability may vary depending on direction and interchange points.

This temporary extension reflects DMRC’s continued efforts to support large-scale public events by enhancing public transport accessibility. For fans heading to the stadium, the nearest metro stations remain Delhi Gate and ITO, both located within walking distance of the venue.
