A chilling double murder case surfaced in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area after a 38-year-old woman and her teenage son were found stabbed to death inside their home in the early hours of Thursday, police said.
The victims were identified as Sharda Sahu, a homemaker, and her 13-year-old son, a Class 7 student. According to police officials, both suffered multiple stab injuries in what investigators suspect was a targeted and brutal attack carried out late at night.
The incident came to light after Vishnu Sahu, the husband of the deceased woman and a fruit-and-vegetable vendor who works in weekly markets, returned home around 12:30 am. Police said he found the front door latched from outside, raising immediate suspicion.
After entering the house, he allegedly discovered the bodies of his wife and son lying inside in a pool of blood. A PCR call regarding the killings was received at around 1:11 am, following which police teams rushed to the spot.
Hemant Tiwari said preliminary investigation revealed multiple stab wounds on both victims. Crime and forensic teams inspected the scene, collected evidence and began examining possible motives behind the killings.
Officials said investigators are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning neighbours, relatives and known contacts of the family. Police have not ruled out personal enmity, robbery, or involvement of someone known to the victims, though no official confirmation regarding motive has yet been issued.
The shocking murders triggered panic in the Govindpuri locality, with residents gathering outside the house as news of the killings spread through the neighbourhood by morning.
Police sources indicated that entry and exit points around the house are also being examined to determine how the attacker entered and escaped. Authorities are additionally checking whether valuables were missing from the residence.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and a case of murder has been registered. Senior officers said multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace the accused.
The incident has once again raised concerns over late-night security and violent crimes in residential areas of the national capital, particularly involving attacks inside homes. Investigation into the case is currently underway.
