Deep Depression weakens into Depression : Met

The Deep Depression (remnant of the Cyclonic Storm “Mandous” pronounced as “Man-Dous”) over North Tamil Nadu moved nearly west-southwestwards with a speed of 9 kmph during the past 6 hours and weakened into Depression and lay centred at 1130 hours on Saturday over North Tamil Nadu near latitude 12.7°N and longitude 79.3°E, about 30 km south-southwest of Vellore and 120 km east-northeast of Krishnagiri.

It is very likely to move nearly west-southwestwards and gradually weaken into a well marked low pressure area during the next 12 hours, Meteorological Centre in a release here this afternoon.

Under its influence of the above system, Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in Chittoor and Anantapuram districts of Rayalaseema today.

Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places in SPSR Nellore district of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and YSR District of Rayalaseema during the same period.

Heavy rain likely at isolated places in Anantapuram District of Rayalaseema tomorrow.

Squally winds of speed 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely over Chittoor, YSR District and Anantapuram districts of Rayalaseema on Saturday.

Earlier, the Cyclonic storm ‘Mandous’ crossed the coast between Pudcherry and Sriharikota near Mamallapuram and weakenedinto a Deep Depression.
