Kolkata Doctor’s Rape-Murder Case: CBI begins polygraph test on accused and doctors of RG Kar hospital

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has begun polygraph tests of Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the Kolkata rape- murder case. The test is being conducted inside Presidency jail.

Apart from Roy, the CBI will also be conducting polygraph test, which is also known as lie detector test, on Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar hospital, four doctors, who had dinner with the victim, and civic volunteer, who had allegedly accompanied Sanjay Roy.

The agency were granted permission by the Supreme Court to conduct the test in the ongoing investigation for rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee at the hospital.

What is a polygraph test?

A polygraph test, also known as a lie detector test, is a procedure that measures and records several physiological indicators, such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and skin conductivity, while a person is asked a series of questions.

As per the test, the deceptive answers will produce a psychological responses that can be differed from non-deceptive answers.
