
On Thursday, April 15, Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested 4 people including 2 Nigerian nationals in the connection of Smuggling in mid of Covid-19 times.
In connection with smuggling, Crime Branch seized 200 Ecstasy pills, 153 grams of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), 5 mobile-phones, 2 motorcycles, weapons and RS 4000 cash also seized from their possession. A case has been also registered in the case of smuggling.
Earlier in the month of March, Central Crime Branch conducted raid in east Bengaluru in connection with illegal drugs, the police busted four drug rings and arrested 10 persons, including eight foreigners. They seized narcotics worth ₹4.4 crore, including over three kg of MDMA, 200 gram of cocaine, a huge cache of ecstasy pills and 2.5 kg of ganja.
In last 24 hours, Karnataka reported more than 11,000 cases in a single day for the first time since the pandemic hit, while Bengaluru broke the ‘record’ from earlier this month by breaching the 8,000-cases mark. The state’s previous high was on October 7, 2020 with 10,947 cases.
