In a significant legal turn of events, the Bombay High Court has granted bail to gangster Chhota Rajan in the 2001 Jaya Shetty murder case. Rajan, who was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment by a special CBI court for his involvement in the murder, has received temporary relief with the court’s decision.
A division bench comprising Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Prithviraj Chavan approved the bail on a bond of ₹1 lakh. The murder, which took place on May 4, 2001, had led to Rajan’s conviction earlier this year. However, this bail applies solely to this case and marks a temporary reprieve for the gangster as legal proceedings continue.
