Border Guarding Forces (BGFs) are working to prevent smuggling of unsafe products: MoS Home Nityanand Rai

MoS Home Nityanand Rai said that BGFs are working in coordination with the Customs department to prevent smuggling.

On Tuesday, March 23, Minister of State Home Nityanand Rai said in a written reply in Lok Sabha about how Border Guarding Forces are preventing smuggling of unsafe product. He said, “Border Guarding Forces (BGFs) are working in coordination with the Customs department to prevent the smuggling of counterfeit and unsafe products”.

The Minister of State also counted some measures adopted by BGFs to prevent smuggling. He said, “The measures adopted include border fence, installation of floodlights, construction of Border Out Posts, deployment of Hi-tech surveillance equipment, sharing of information and conduct of joint operations by BGF & Customs department”.

Cattle smuggling along Indo-Bangladesh border is a serious concern. Recently, when asked about same to MoS Home Nityanand Rai in the Raj Sabha, he said, “Whenever the involvement of a BSF personnel comes to light for cattle smuggling along Indo-Bangladesh border, BSF carries out investigation and appropriate disciplinary action is taken as per the rules.”
