Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique was tragically shot dead on Saturday night by three unidentified gunmen in Mumbai. Now, Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has claimed responsibility for the murder. A gang member’s Facebook post, which has now gone viral, claimed that Siddique’s murder was because of his links to Bollywood star Salman Khan, as well as underworld figures Dawood Ibrahim and Anuj Thapan.
The post, which has since been removed, was written in Hindi and included the following message: “Om, Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat. I understand the essence of life, and consider wealth and the body as dust. I did only what was right, honoring the duty of friendship. Salman Khan, we did not want this war but you made our brother lose his life. Today, the pool of decency of Baba Siddique is closed. At one time, he was under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act) with Dawood. The reason for his death was his links to Dawood and Anuj Thapan in Bollywood, politics, and property dealings.”
The post further reads, “We have no personal enmity with anyone. However, anyone who helps Salman Khan or the Dawood gang should be prepared. If anyone gets any of our brothers killed, we will respond. We never strike first. Jai Shri Ram, Jai Bharat, salute to the martyrs.”
Now, Mumbai police responded to various claims of an alleged Facebook post. Special Commissioner Deven Bharti said to The Indian Express, “We have seen the viral social media post. Verifying authenticity and context.”
He added, “We also couldn’t independently verify the post which cannot be traced on the platform any longer.”
In the meantime, two of the three suspects connected to the firing have been taken into custody by Mumbai police. Karnail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap, who live in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, respectively, have been identified as the culprits who were arrested.
