In Amravati, Maharashtra, what began as whispers about a few “leaked” videos has erupted into one of the most disturbing sexual‑abuse and blackmail cases in recent years, as police have arrested 19‑year‑old Ayan Ahmed Tanveer, the alleged mastermind behind a network that exploited at least 180 minor girls and recorded over 350 explicit videos. Authorities say the conspiracy was sustained through fake romantic “love traps,” digital blackmail and the wide circulation of illicit content on social media, until a bitter, money‑linked dispute between Ahmed and his associate, Uzer Khan, led to the public leakage of the footage and compelled law‑enforcement agencies to launch a full‑scale investigation.

In Amravati district of Maharashtra, police have arrested 19‑year‑old Ayan Ahmed Tanveer (also known as Mohammad Ayaz), a second‑year college student from Achalpur, in connection with a major sex‑abuse and blackmail case involving minor girls. Authorities allege that he sexually exploited at least 180 minor girls, recorded over 350 obscene videos, and later circulated some of them to blackmail the victims. The accused, a resident of Paratwada, was produced before a local court and remanded to police custody until 21 April.

Police say the sexual abuse and blackmail would have continued unnoticed if not for a dispute between Ayan Ahmed and his associate Uzer Khan. The two are reported to have once had a bet over who would “win” more girls, which gradually escalated into a pattern of recording and sharing explicit videos. A falling‑out over money allegedly led Uzer to post the videos online in a fit of rage, after which they began going viral and triggered a police probe.

Investigations indicate that Ayan allegedly lured girls, many of them minors, into what investigators describe as a “love trap”, then took them to Mumbai and Pune and filmed them in rented rooms. Police believe he used social media and personal contacts to approach girls, often from different towns who came to Amravati for college or coaching, and then exploited them under the guise of relationships. At least 100 videos are reported to have been circulated online, while the total number of alleged recordings stands at around 350.

Sources and open reports state that Ayan Ahmed was earlier associated with Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM and had handled the party’s social media accounts during local elections. A local politician and councillor from Achalpur, Mujeeb Rashid, told reporters that he had reprimanded Ayan over the viral videos but was unaware that they involved sexual abuse and blackmail rather than a simple private leak. Some Hindu groups have labelled the case an instance of “love jihad”, a claim that community leaders including Pyare Khan have publicly rejected, noting that all eight identified victims belong to the Muslim community.

Following the arrest, a 47‑member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed, and at least three youths have been picked up for circulating the videos; four people are currently in police custody. Authorities have identified eight survivors so far and have contacted their families for statements. Within 24 hours of Ayan’s arrest, local administration demolished his family home in Paratwada, citing illegal structure and public safety concerns.
