The Election Commission (EC) will publish the timetable of General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura today (January 18, 2023).
A delegation led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar visited the three northeastern states last week and met with political parties as well as state, central security, and civil authorities, particularly district-level officials, in the various state capitals.
Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura’s five-year terms are set to end on March 12, March 15, and March 22, respectively.
Currently, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads the alliance government in Tripura, while the saffron party’s National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the National People’s Party (NPP), lead governments in Nagaland and Meghalaya, respectively.
