74th Independence Day: Defence production is a top priority to realize the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his national address, emphasized on the idea of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ for Defence production.

Addressing the nation on the 74th Independence Day, from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about how defense production is of great importance in order to become atmanirbhar.

He said that a negative list of over 100 defense products is created for import. This would promote atmanirbharata in domestic defense production. Now, from pistols and guns to tanks and fighter jets like the Tejas, from artillery guns to missiles, everything will be made in India.

He then went on to talk about giving training to nearly 1 lakh National Cadet Corps (NCC) youth in the areas which are on the coast or share a border with another country, i.e nearly 173 districts. “Half of them will be our daughters….”, he added.

The Indian Army and Navy will be involved in their training and would give the youth the required skills to be enrolled in the Indian Armed Forces in the future.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of being self-reliant in various other sectors such as agriculture, health, etc. and said that he has confidence in the 130 crore Indians in achieving the goal.

Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh had said last week that PM Modi will present a new outline for a self-reliant India on August 15.
