The US CDC has issued a level 4 travel health notice to the citizens who are preparing to visit India. The level 4 notice reveals a very high level of Coronavirus infections in India, the US Department of Consular Affairs stated on Wednesday.
“US citizens who must travel to India, are strongly recommended to get fully vaccinated before travel and continue to take personal health safety measures to protect themselves, including practising physical and social distancing, cleaning hands with soap and hand sanitiser, wearing masks, and avoiding crowded areas with poor ventilation”, the CDC said in a statement.
The CDC had earlier issued travel recommendations asserting that the travellers who were fully vaccinated, need not get tested before leaving the United States unless their destination requires it and that they do not need to self-quartine after they arrive in the United States.
On the other hand, the United Kingdom has already added India to its travel “Red List” as a precautionary measure after India recorded 103 cases of the new coronavirus variant recently.
The coronavirus situation in India is continually worsening after the second wave of the virus. India has reported more than 2 lakh cases of coronavirus infections in the past few days.
According to a report by ANI, ten states in India account for 81% of new deaths. The union health ministry of India stated that the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses in the country has crossed 13.23 crores, as part of the world’s largest vaccination drive. The ministry said that 2,104 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, most of which belonged to Maharashtra (568 deaths) and Delhi (249 deaths).
