Zomato has rolled out a new ‘Healthy Mode’ that assigns every dish on the platform a Healthy Score—ranging from Low to Super—based on protein, complex carbs, fibre, and micronutrients, rather than just calories.

Explaining the move, CEO Deepinder Goyal said the feature is not a basic “healthy mode” but one designed with professional athletes in mind. “We have kept the bar very high, that professional athletes can rely on Healthy Mode to find food that works for them,” he noted.

The system uses AI and restaurant data to evaluate meals, but for customers, it translates into a simple score with a clear explanation of what makes the dish healthy and why.

Calling the launch personal, Goyal admitted he carried guilt that Zomato made it easy to eat whatever one craved but not easy to eat what the body needed. “Healthy Mode is our first real step in putting that right,” he said.
