Usually wrapped around the shoulders and allowed to hang down the front of the body, a stole is a band of fabric or shawl. For information on how to style a stole, read this article.

Stole

The stole is a liturgical garment worn by people of different Christian denominations. It is made of a band of coloured fabric, usually silk, that is between seven and a half and nine feet long and three to four inches wide. The ends of the band can be straight or can broaden out into the shape of a bell or spade. The stole’s centre is worn around the back of the neck, and its two ends hang down in front parallel to each other, either fastened together or hanging loose.

In modern fashion, a stole can be thought of as a lighter and more formal version of a shawl and is made of exquisite and light fabrics like silk, satin, or chiffon. A stole is a woman’s long shawl worn loosely over the shoulders. Fur or other comparable materials may sometimes occasionally be used for them. A stole, on the other hand, can add layers of texture to a simple (non-formal) look and is long enough to drape over the body. Its dimensions can range from 2-4 feet broad to 5-6 feet long.

How should a stole be worn in different styles?

Wear your stole around your neck, spread it out in the front, and fasten a belt over it to cinch in your waist. Alternatively, tie tight knots on both ends of the stole and wear it over your t-shirt or tank top like a shrug or kimono. If you’re tired of using belts all the time, tie a stole around your waist and secure it with two knots on the side. Then, drape the stole over one shoulder and wear a fashionable belt to complete the appearance.
