Krishna Janmashtami is a festival that marks the birth of Lord Krishna, who descended on earth to end the misdeeds of human greed. Every year, the celebration has no bound with respect to decorating homes, sweets, acts of ‘Dahi Handi’, and more. Many states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, hold grand festivity in cherishing the birth of lord. Parents usually dress their children as Krishna for competitions at school or as a gesture for homely rituals. But, just getting the kids dressed as the lord won’t impart values of Krishna in their lives. So, read to your children, the tales of Krishna to glorify their lives for betterment.
Krishna Incarnation
Let the kids learn the fact that, every wrong deed will be punished and won’t let ignored. As like, the heights of evil acts and rampage of demons compelled Lord Vishnu to come down to earth and end the immoral forces. He procured the material body of Krishna being born to Devaki and Vasudeva. King Kansa, brother of Devaki, prisoned the couple, hearing to the prophecy that said eighth child of them will be the reason for his death. Tell your children the detailed version of this story, on how cruel was Kansa to his own sibling as only his life was important than anybody.
Acts of Kansa
As the children grow, they must know that if we do injustice with others, the same will come back to us someday. King Kansa prisoned the couple and killed their seven offspring mercilessly. After learning about Krishna being the eighth child, living in Gokula. He sent many demon forces like Pootna, Trinavarta, Bakasura, and many more to kill Krishna from the very childhood. Explain to your kids about the different ways the demons attacked the child and the miracles that happened thereafter.
Mischievous Krishna
As a mother, express your love and bond that you carry for your children through the tales of Krishna and Yashoda’s relationship. Krishna was the most loved child of Yashoda. He was very mischievous and would steal butter all the time. And, if caught then would make some excuses and escape punishments.
Death of Kansa
Every beginning has an end, but it to be good or bad is decided based on the life values we adopt. Teach your kids the importance of good lifestyle and respectful behavior. Kansa’s death is an example that, justice will overrule rich and powerful.
In India, every festival celebrated holds a significance that teaches a life lesson. Thus, rejoice the festive mood meaningfully rather than a compulsive act.
