Indian equity benchmarks were trading largely flat at midday on February 18, with the Nifty 50 hovering near the 25,714 mark as of 12 PM IST. While the broader indices showed limited movement, several frontline stocks witnessed noticeable declines during the session.
Among the top losers on the Nifty 50 index was Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, which fell 3.1% to trade at ₹263.5. The stock emerged as the biggest drag on the index in midday trade.
Eternal declined 2.6% to ₹274.3, extending its weakness during the session.
IT stocks were also under pressure. Tech Mahindra slipped 2.2% to ₹1,490.9, while Wipro dropped 2.1% to ₹211.1.
In the energy and mining space, Coal India was down 1.8% at ₹414.0.
Among other notable laggards, Adani Enterprises declined 1.5% to ₹2,208.4.
IT heavyweight Infosys fell 1.5% to ₹1,370.6, while HCL Technologies slipped 1.4% to ₹1,461.8.
Tata Consultancy Services was down 1.2% at ₹2,684.2.
Meanwhile, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone edged lower by 1.0% to ₹1,551.1.
Overall, weakness was seen largely across IT, energy, and select infrastructure names, even as the benchmark indices traded in a narrow range during midday deals.
