Indian benchmark indices were trading lower in midday trade on March 6 (12:30 PM IST), with selling pressure visible across key sectors. The NIFTY 50 declined 174.30 points or 0.70% to 24,591.60, while the BSE Sensex slipped 627.35 points or 0.78% to 79,388.55. The Nifty Bank was down 1.35% at 58,261.50.
Despite the broader market weakness, several NIFTY 50 constituents were trading in positive territory during midday trade.
Bharat Electronics emerged as the top gainer among Nifty 50 stocks. The stock was trading at ₹471.5, up 11.45 points or 2.5%.
Reliance Industries was also among the gainers, rising 26.40 points or 1.9% to ₹1,415.8.
Shares of NTPC were trading at ₹384.5, higher by 6.40 points or 1.7% during midday trade.
Grasim Industries advanced 26.00 points or 1.0% to ₹2,750.1.
Pharmaceutical major Sun Pharmaceutical Industries gained 14.40 points or 0.8%, trading at ₹1,798.9.
HCL Technologies was up 10.00 points or 0.7% at ₹1,364.1.
Metal producer Hindalco Industries rose 7.05 points or 0.7% to ₹962.0.
Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India were trading at ₹301.6, up 2.10 points or 0.7%.
State-run energy company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation gained 1.80 points or 0.7% to ₹278.2.
Meanwhile, Asian Paints was trading at ₹2,300.9, up 13.10 points or 0.6% during midday trade.
The gains in these stocks came even as the broader market indices remained under pressure in midday trading on March 6.
