Indian equity benchmarks traded under pressure in midday deals on January 29, even as select heavyweight stocks from the Nifty 50 managed to post gains. At 12:14 AM, the NIFTY was down 0.31% at 25,265.10, while the SENSEX slipped 0.33% to 82,069.92.
Among Nifty 50 constituents, Larsen & Toubro was trading at ₹3,928, higher by 3.5%, making it the top gainer at the time.
Hindalco Industries was quoted at ₹1,025.4, up 2.7%, while NTPC traded 2.5% higher at ₹356.8.
Metal stock Tata Steel was trading at ₹198.4, registering a gain of 2.3%. In the energy segment, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation was up 2.0%, trading at ₹274.0.
Among banking stocks, Axis Bank was trading 1.5% higher at ₹1,340.0, while State Bank of India edged up 0.6% to ₹1,070.4.
Other Nifty gainers included Coal India, trading 1.4% higher at ₹450.1, Eternal, up 1.2% at ₹269.5, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, which was marginally higher by 0.5%, trading at ₹342.3.
Overall, despite declines in the frontline indices, select Nifty 50 stocks were trading in positive territory during midday trade.
