Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle business posted a mixed set of consolidated numbers for Q2, showing pressure on operating performance even as bottom-line growth benefited from a one-time exceptional gain.
The company reported revenue of ₹72,349 crore for the quarter, which is a 13.5% decline compared to ₹83,656 crore in the same period last year.
Operationally, the quarter was challenging. EBITDA, which stood at a profit of ₹9,478 crore last year, slipped into a loss of ₹1,043 crore. This marks a sharp drop of about 111% year-on-year.
Despite the tough operating environment, Tata Motors delivered a massive jump in net profit, posting ₹76,170 crore versus ₹3,446 crore a year ago. The spike came largely due to an exceptional gain of ₹2,608 crore recorded in Q2, which significantly lifted the bottom line.
