PhonePe launches Share.Market app, enters stock broking business

The new mobile app will allow users to trade and invest in stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs (exchange-traded funds).

‘Share(dot)Market’, a new mobile application from PhonePe’s subsidiary PhonePe Wealth Broking, was released to coincide with the company’s announcement that it was entering the stock broking market. The premier digital payment platform’s announcement signifies the culmination of its financial services portfolio, according to Sameer Nigam, CEO and Co-Founder of the business.

PhonePe is an Indian digital payments and financial services company. It was founded in December 2015 and is headquartered in Bangalore, India. PhonePe provides a platform for users to make digital payments, including money transfers, bill payments, recharges, and online purchases. It started as a Unified Payments Interface (UPI) app, allowing users to link their bank accounts and make peer-to-peer transactions easily.

Over time, PhonePe expanded its services to include features like mutual fund investments, insurance products, and gold purchases. The company also introduced a digital wallet option for users who preferred to maintain a balance within the PhonePe app.
