Indian benchmark indices ended sharply higher on Thursday, March 5, with the Sensex rising 900 points, or 1.14%, to close at 80,015, while the Nifty gained 285 points, or 1.17%, to settle at 24,765. Despite the strong broader market performance, several Nifty 50 stocks ended the session in negative territory.

Tech Mahindra emerged as the top loser among Nifty constituents, declining 1.3% to close at 1333.3. HCL Technologies also ended lower, falling 0.7% to settle at 1354.1.

Among banking stocks, ICICI Bank slipped 0.6% to close at 1357.6, while State Bank of India declined 0.4% to end the session at 1169.5. Axis Bank also closed in the red, down 0.2% at 1349.1.

In the IT space, Tata Consultancy Services fell 0.4% to close at 2578.8.

Hindustan Unilever declined 0.3% to settle at 2255.0. Eternal also ended lower, down 0.3% to close at 240.1.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation slipped 0.2% to end the day at 276.4, while ITC declined 0.1% to close at 311.5.

These stocks were among the top losers in the Nifty 50 index during Thursday’s session.
