The Indian stock market traded higher on March 16, with benchmark indices posting gains during the session. The Nifty 50 rose 257.70 points or 1.11% to 23,408.80, while the BSE Sensex advanced 938.93 points or 1.26% to 75,502.85. The Nifty Bank also moved higher by 1.22% to 54,413.40.
Despite the overall strength in the broader market, several stocks from the Nifty 50 traded in the red during the session.
Bharat Electronics emerged as the top loser among Nifty 50 stocks, declining 2.5% to ₹428.5.
Shares of Max Healthcare Institute also slipped 2.3%, trading at ₹967.0.
Wipro was down 1.8% at ₹194.1 during the session.
Among other laggards, Coal India fell 1.7% to ₹459.0, while Oil and Natural Gas Corporation declined 1.5% to ₹260.1.
Pharmaceutical stocks also saw mild weakness. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories slipped 1.5% to ₹1,273.0, while Sun Pharmaceutical Industries fell 1.4% to ₹1,776.0.
Financial stock Shriram Finance traded 1.4% lower at ₹990.0.
Meanwhile, Cipla declined 1.2% to ₹1,299.1 and Power Grid Corporation of India slipped 1.1% to ₹297.6.
These stocks were among the key laggards in the Nifty 50 during today’s trading session.
