Indian equity benchmarks extended their losing streak for a third consecutive session on January 21, as broad-based selling weighed on frontline stocks. The Sensex fell 270.84 points, or 0.33%, to close at 81,909.63, while the Nifty 50 declined 75 points, or 0.30%, to end at 25,157.50.

  • ICICI Bank was the top loser on the Nifty 50, closing 2.0% lower at 1,349.0.

  • Trent declined 1.9% to close at 3,764.4.

  • Tata Consumer Products ended the session down 1.8% at 1,163.6.

  • Bharat Electronics closed 1.6% lower at 402.7.

  • HDFC Bank declined 1.2% to settle at 920.4.

  • Larsen & Toubro fell 1.2%, closing at 3,766.5.

  • Adani Enterprises slipped 1.1% to 2,032.2.

  • HDFC Life Insurance ended 1.1% lower at 724.4.

  • Apollo Hospitals closed down 1.0% at 6,845.0.

  • Nestle India also declined 1.0%, ending the day at 1,283.2.
