Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on March 6, with selling pressure visible across key indices. The Nifty 50 closed at 24,450.45, down 315.45 points or 1.27%, while the Sensex settled at 78,918.90, declining 1,097.00 points or 1.37%. The Bank Nifty dropped 2.15% to 57,783.25, and the Midcap Nifty fell 0.71% to 13,166.90.
Despite the broader weakness in the market, a few stocks in the Nifty 50 managed to close in positive territory.
Bharat Electronics emerged as the top gainer of the day, ending at ₹468.9, up 1.9%.
Reliance Industries also advanced, closing at ₹1,407.2, higher by 1.3%.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) finished at ₹279.1, registering a gain of 1.0%.
NTPC closed at ₹381.3, up 0.9% during the session.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries ended at ₹1,794.5, rising 0.6%.
Hindalco Industries closed at ₹960.1, gaining 0.5%.
Nestle India settled at ₹1,255.7, up 0.4%.
Among IT stocks, Infosys ended the day at ₹1,309.8, gaining 0.3%, while HCL Technologies closed at ₹1,357.2, up 0.2%.
Power Grid Corporation also finished marginally higher at ₹300.1, advancing 0.2%.
