Indian equity benchmarks ended January 27 on a firm note, with the Nifty closing above the 25,150 mark. The Sensex settled at 81,857.48, up 319.78 points or 0.39%, while the Nifty closed at 25,175.40, gaining 126.75 points or 0.51%.
Among the top gainers on the Nifty 50, Adani Enterprises ended the session at ₹1,963, rising 5.3% on the day. Axis Bank closed at ₹1,322, up 5.1%.
Metal stocks also featured among the gainers. JSW Steel settled at ₹1,223.2, registering a 4.6% gain, while Tata Steel ended at ₹193.1, higher by 2.9%. Movements in these stocks aligned with broader buying interest in the metal space during the session.
Infrastructure and diversified plays saw gains as well. Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone closed at ₹1,365, up 4.3%, and Grasim Industries finished at ₹2,860, gaining 3.7%.
Consumption- and power-linked stocks also ended higher. Tata Consumer Products rose 3.1% to close at ₹1,189.5, while NTPC advanced 2.8% to ₹346.
In the technology and auto segments, Tech Mahindra closed at ₹1,748, up 2.8%, and Eicher Motors ended at ₹7,147.5, gaining 2.5%.
