Infosys shares gained 3% after the IT major announced a strategic collaboration with US-based artificial intelligence research company Anthropic to develop and deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions across multiple industries. The partnership will initially focus on telecommunications and is expected to expand into financial services, manufacturing, and software development.

The collaboration brings together Anthropic’s Claude AI models, including Claude Code, with Infosys’ Topaz AI offerings. The integration is aimed at helping enterprises automate complex workflows, accelerate software development cycles, and adopt AI solutions with strong governance and transparency frameworks—particularly critical for regulated sectors.

As part of the first phase, the two companies will establish a dedicated Anthropic Center of Excellence focused on the telecommunications sector. The centre will design and deploy AI agents tailored to industry-specific operations, helping telecom companies streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.

A key pillar of the partnership is the development of agentic AI systems. Unlike traditional AI tools that respond to single prompts, agentic AI systems are designed to independently execute multi-step tasks. These include processing insurance claims, generating and testing code, managing compliance reviews, and handling long-running enterprise workflows. Through tools such as the Claude Agent SDK, enterprises will be able to build AI agents capable of persistent task execution across complex business processes.

The collaboration also aims to support enterprises in modernising legacy infrastructure. By combining Infosys Topaz with Anthropic’s Claude models, organisations can accelerate system migrations and reduce the cost and time involved in upgrading ageing technology stacks. This could be particularly relevant for industries with large, complex legacy systems.

The announcement underscores a broader shift in enterprise AI adoption, where businesses are moving beyond experimental use cases towards scalable, operational deployments. Infosys and Anthropic stated that the partnership is designed to deliver transformational value rather than incremental efficiency gains, by reimagining enterprise operating models through advanced AI integration.
