FIIs remain net sellers for 4th straight session, sell shares worth Rs 1,169 cr

FIIs sold shares worth Rs 1,169 crore in the cash markets, against Rs 13 crore worth of shares sold in yesterday’s trading session

Foreign Institutional Investors sold Indian equities for the fourth straight session on Thursday. According to data available on exchanges, FIIs sold shares worth Rs 1,169 crore in the cash markets, against Rs 13 crore worth of shares sold in yesterday’s trading session. The Sensex, however, ended higher at 59,632, up 64 points. The Nifty-50 ended higher by 5 points at 17,624.

Flows from DIIs remained positive as they bought shares worth Rs 832 crore, provisional data from exchanges showed. Flows from foreign institutional investors so far in April largely remain positive as they are net buyers of Indian equities worth Rs 2,433 crore. On the other hand, DIIs so far in this month have sold shares worth Rs 1,290 crore.

Nifty made a marginally higher top and bottom compared to the previous session on April 20. For two consecutive days, we have seen tight high low range for the Nifty. It could soon expand its high low range. Nifty could stay in the 17557-17729 band for the near term,” said Deepak Jasani of HDFC Securities.
