Farmers have blocked Ambala-Hisar Highway near the new Anaj Mandi in Ambala. Prior to this, they had blocked the NH 344 also known as the Ambala-Roorkee national highway near Milk Majra village of Yamunanagar district to oppose the new agricultural bills.
Farmer leaders have got huge support from farmers, commission agents, and the protests had spread leading to the blocking of highways in opposition to the farmer bills.
The Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce Bill, 2020 and The Farmer’s Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill,2020 had a clear motive of creating employment which would in turn help in the progression of the economy but the farmers clearly don’t agree to this which is causing these protests in Punjab and Haryana.
Like the BJP ally claimed that these bills are an “anti-farmer” move, the farmers have the exact same opinion. Not only the farmers are against the bills, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Minister of Food Processing Industries, had also resigned from the Union Cabinet as a protest against the bills.
The Indian economy gets its major contribution from the agricultural sector and a step like this has infuriated the farmers who run the agriculture sector. The bills which were introduced to cause growth in the economy are not being accepted with ease. Even though this bill has lead to thunder in the sector but the actual impacts will be seen in the long run.
