Budget 2022: FM Nirmala Sitharaman set to present paperless budget for 2nd year in a row

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present the Union Budget for 2022-23 today. However, just like last year, she will present this Budget in a paperless format too. She was glimpsed holding a tablet kept inside a red coloured cover around her ministry. The tablet is a ‘Made in India’ product.

However, it was last year when in a historic move, the Union Budget 2021 was presented in a digital format for the first time to encourage the Digital India Programme of the Government of India.

However, FM, Sitharaman was seen along with MoS Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Bhagwat Karad and other officials from her ministry, she is scheduled to meet President Ram Nath Kovind before proposing the budget at 11 am today in the Parliament.

The Central government last year inaugurated the ‘Union Budget Mobile App’ to encourage the Members of Parliament (MPs) and common people to permit Budget documents digitally. The Union Budget 2022 -23 would also be made accessible on the mobile app after the Budget is submitted on February 1 in house.

The App enables detailed presentation to 14 Union Budget documents, comprising the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG) and Financial Bill as specified by the Constitution.
