Time and again we have seen how people abroad tuning Bollywood songs. This shows music is the universe with no barriers to language. Recently in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2021 two Israeli swimmers, Ellen Blecher and Shelly Bobritsky performed a swimming duet on Madhuri Dixit’s ‘Aaja Nachle’. Both of them took part in the Artistic Swimming Duet Free Routine Preliminary. A video went viral where both of them can be seen performing spectacular moves while Aaja Nachle is being played in the background. The post was captioned, “Nach le Nach le… used by team Israel for #ArtisticSwimming at #Olympics2020 @MadhuriDixit #BollywoodInspiredOlympians #Aajanachle”

The duo was in a fight to qualify for the finale of the Women’s Duet Artistic Techhinal routine held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Unfortunately, they didn’t qualify for the finals. It should not be confused with the traditional swimming race. Here each duo comes and performers an act for 3 to 4 minutes where teams are judged on basis of choreography, technique, synchronisation and the level of difficulty. In the points table, Israel stands on 51st rank with 1 gold and 2 bronze medals whereas India stands on 65th rank with 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Not only this event but Israel and India have always had shared special relations since independence. Earlier we saw the former Israeli Prime Minister visiting India in 2018 where he met Bollywood stars where Madhuri Dixir was also present. A selfie of his also went popular with the stalwarts of Bollywood including Big B himself.
