The Hindi film industry is abuzz with the announcement of a fresh on-screen pairing that brings together two prominent legacy families. Rasha Thadani, daughter of actress Raveena Tandon, is set to star opposite Vir Hirani, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, in an upcoming romantic drama tentatively titled Lagan Laagi Re.
The project marks a significant milestone for both young actors. While Vir Hirani is slated to make his acting debut in the cybercrime thriller series Pritam Pedro (created by his father), Lagan Laagi Re will serve as his first major theatrical release as a leading man. Rasha Thadani, who has already generated considerable interest in the industry following her debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s Azaad, continues to build a diverse portfolio with this new venture.
The film is being produced by Jay Shewakramani under the Northern Lights Films banner. Shewakramani is known for backing stylized and successful projects like Jawaani Jaaneman, Malang, and Jaane Jaan. Directed by Sonali Rattan Deshmukh, the movie is described as a contemporary, vibrant love story set against a small-town backdrop. Sonali, who has extensive experience assisting on romantic hits like Jannat and Shiddat, is expected to bring a refined emotional depth to this youth-centric narrative.
Adding further weight to the project is screenwriter Karan Vyas, the pen behind critically acclaimed hits such as Scam 1992 and Scoop. His involvement suggests a screenplay that will balance commercial romantic appeal with grounded, realistic storytelling.
Filming for Lagan Laagi Re is scheduled to commence in July 2026. Given the pedigree of the cast and the proven track record of the production team, expectations are high. Industry insiders view the pairing of Rasha and Vir as an ideal match for a modern romance, positioning the film as one of the most anticipated young-adult features of the 2026-2027 cinematic calendar.
