The Sony-Zee merger is expected to get completed by September – Deets inside

The much-anticipated merger between Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited(ZEEL) and Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) is expected to get done by this September, as announced by the CEO of Sony Cooperation Kenichiro Yoshida.

Describing India as a ‘Creative Country’, the 68 years old Yoshida stated that the merger is expected to happen “By the first half of this fiscal year”. He also expressed his gratitude to the Indian Media and huge population for the prime growth of the Entertainment Market. As India has established a name for itself as the biggest film producer since 2005. he said he believes that there will be a lot of opportunities for the entertainment industry in India due to the Interest of Indian youth in many sources such as Anime and gaming.

As per the President, COO and CFO, Hiroki Totoki, revealed that the main motive of Sony when it started its Journey in India for almost 25 years was Electronics. However, the Indian market has more potential for Entertainment rather than electronics.

Zee Entertainment was first launched on December 15, 1991, as Zee Telefilms. Today, ZEEL provides entertainment in various modes such as Television, the Internet, Films, and mobile Content.

Meanwhile, Sony Entertainment first came into existence on September 30, 1997, 27 years ago from the present.
