Indian Idol 12: Kavita Krishnamurthy shares story behind ‘Hawa Hawai’

Singer Kavita Krishnamurthy, in the weekend episode of Indian Idol 12, shared the story behind how the words like ‘Mumbasa’ and ‘Assi Tussi’ were added to the song ‘Hawa Hawai’.

Renowned singer Kavita Krishnamurthy was invited as the chief guest for this weekend’s episode of Indian Idol Season 12. Various songs of hers are considered blockbusters even today. In the recent episode, the singer shared some interesting facts about the song ‘Hawa Hawai’ from the movie ‘Mr. India’.

She shared how these quirky words like ‘Mumbasa’ and ‘Assi Tussi’ were added to the song. According to IANS, while speaking about the lyrics and recording of the songs, Kavita said, “There is a small story behind this song. Laxmiji had composed three to four words. While I was sitting, Pyare Bhai was getting the musicians ready. There were actually four words. When the musicians used to open the door and say ‘Namaste’ to Laxmiji, someone said note down the words ‘Assi-Tussi’, add ‘Lassi-Pissi’. Another said, if there is Hong Kong, there should also be King Kong.”

“Then finally, at around 1:30 to 2 pm, Javed Saab came in and said that last night he felt that ‘Mumbasa’ should be the last word. And that is how the whole thing became an opening intro to the song,” she added.

The song from the 1987 movie starred actress Sridevi. Her dance performance on the hit track ‘Hawa Hawai’ is remembered even today.

Kavita Krishnamurthy will be seen with Kumar Sanu in the Dosti Special episode of “Indian Idol 12”. The episode will be aired on Saturday at 9.30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
