The Last of Us is an HBO post-apocalyptic television drama series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. HBO released the show’s first and second episodes on January 15 and January 22, 2023, respectively. Filming took place in Alberta from July 2021 to June 2022, and it is billed as the biggest television production in Canadian history.

The protagonists of the series are a seasoned smuggler and a young woman. The Last of Us follows these unusual companions as they travel through what is left of the United States, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Young Ellie may be the key to survival, as she is immune to the terrible fungus virus that turns people into merciless, bloodthirsty killers, as the episodes go.

The Rehearsal (2022-present)

Nathan Fielder, one of the funniest and most creative comics, is best known for his comedy docuseries Nathan for You. The Rehearsal, however, maintains a similar tone despite having a distinct premise. The Rehearsal’s story centres around Fielder, who plays the director of these carefully staged scenes that mimic aspects of everyday people’s lives in order to assist them get ready for significant life events. People can practise for these moments by acting them out in meticulously built simulations of Fielder’s own design thanks to the help of a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly endless resources.

The Staircase (2022)

The Staircase is a 2004 criminal docuseries by Jean-Xavier de Lestrade that served as the inspiration for Antonio Campos’ American crime drama television series of the same name. Another real-life incident served as the basis for the docuseries on which The Staircase is based.

The crime author Michael Peterson, played by Colin Firth in the series, was found guilty of killing his wife Kathleen Peterson, portrayed by Toni Collette, who was discovered dead at the bottom of their home’s staircase. The family finds themselves embroiled in a contentious legal dispute as the investigation progresses. A French documentary team becomes interested in the story in the interim. HBO Max broadcast the series’ debut on May 5, 2022. If you enjoy thrillers, you will love this one.

Our Flag Means Death (2022-present)

David Jenkins is the creator of the American historical romantic comedy television series Our Flag Means Death. The series, which is set in the early 18th century during the Golden Age of Piracy, follows the escapades of gentleman-turned-pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby) and his crew as they sail aboard the Revenge and encounter renowned pirate captain Blackbeard (Taika Waititi).

Rhys Darby stars as an aristocrat in Our Flag Means Death, whose midlife crisis leads him to leave his family behind and fulfill his dream of being a seafaring bandit, except that since he’s too nice, he miserably fails at it.

 

Peacemaker (2022-Present)

Based on the same-named DC Comics character, James Gunn developed the American superhero television series Peacemaker for the HBO Max streaming service.

It is a spin-off of the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad and the first television series set in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The series, which further examines the jingoistic killer Christopher Smith or the Peacemaker, is set after the events of the movie and stars John Cena in the title role, who also appears in The Suicide Squad.

Christopher Smith, also known as the Peacemaker, is compelled to join the enigmatic A.R.G.U.S. black ops team “Project Butterfly” when he recovers from the wounds, he sustained during the events of The Suicide Squad (2021). They’re on a quest to find and get rid of parasitic, butterfly-like critters that have infected humans all across the world. If you are a fan of John Cena, you definitely can’t miss this.
