In one of the video clips of Extra Masala uploaded on Voot, Shalin Bhanot is seen discussing with Priyanka Chahar Choudhary and Ankit Gupta about cultural shocks he got in Mumbai in terms of language. Priyanka asks Shalin, “aap vaise Merut se hain na?” So, Shalin replies, “nahin main Jabalpur se hu. Vaise 18 saal e Mumbai mein hi hu, so Mumbai is my everything now. Par haan janm bhoomi meri Jabalpur hi hai. Par bahut saal ho chuke hain yaar Jabalpur chorhe. Aur Jabalpur mein toh jo Hindi bolte hain vo Mumbai se kitni alag hai.”

Ankit Gupta adds, “haan bahut meethi Hindi bolte hain vahan.” Priyanka says, “humare yahan toh kaafi rough ho jati hai na, jaise bolte h na ki lathth maar rahein ho, vaisi so hoti hai.” Shalin says, “arey nahin, humare Jabalpur ko toh Sanskardhani Jabalpur bolte hain.” Ankit asks him to repeat and when Shalin does, he says, “mujhe Mumbai mein bahut badha cultural shock laga tha. Mujhe English nahin ati thi toh kuch samajh nahin ata tha.” Priyanka understands, “yeah I can relate.”
