Former Bigg Boss contestant turned actor Ajaz Khan contested the Maharashtra state assembly election under the Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) for Versova seat. The latest tally by the Election Commission reveals that he only scored 131 votes in the election.
Ajaz has more than 5.6 million followers on the Instagram account, but that popularity does not translate into votes.
Haroon Khan has secured 58,047 votes in Versova constituency, Ajaz polled 131 votes and the NOTA option is six times higher with 1022 votes.
Total percentage of votes polled in the Versova Constituency was recorded as 42.2%.
Historically, a Congress dominated constituency, the Versova had 16 contenders for this election. The elections saw the highest voters’ turnouts in Maharashtra in the last thirty three years due to the stiff opposition between the Mahayuti alliance which includes BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP and the second, Maha Vikas Aghadi comprising of NCP(SP), Shiv Sena (UBT) and congress.
