New mom and Bollywood star Richa Chadha is back to her first love—belly dancing—just 6-7 months after delivering her daughter Zuneyra in July 2025, marking a swift postpartum fitness comeback. The actress-producer recently escaped to Goa for a five-day intensive workshop with acclaimed instructor Dipika Vijay, focusing purely on personal growth without film pressures.

What started as therapeutic movement during her recovery evolved into a deeper commitment. “I resumed dancing about 6-7 months post-delivery and reached out to Dipika Vijay, who is an incredible teacher,” Richa shared. She paused dancing for years due to a packed schedule but felt compelled to dive back in dedicatedly, revisiting techniques and exploring its wellness benefits.

Richa discovered belly dance over a decade ago, blending it with her childhood Kathak training under Pandit Abhay Shankar Mishra. Films like Cabaret (2016) honed her skills through live performances, but motherhood reignited a non-professional pursuit. This Goa retreat allowed immersive learning, prioritizing well-being and artistic curiosity over perfection.

Postpartum, Richa hit the gym just 45 days after birth, showcasing her disciplined approach amid parenting duties with husband Ali Fazal. Her cats Kamili and Jugni even protect Zuneyra, giving her space for self-care. This return underscores her belief in holistic recovery—many dancers take 3-11 months to rebuild strength, pelvic control, and flexibility after pregnancy.

Experts note dancers like her, in peak pre-pregnancy form, recover faster with Pilates, PT, and gradual class resumption, though full adaptation demands patience. Richa’s journey highlights motherhood as a “new chapter,” proving careers needn’t pause for parenting.
