OMG! Prabhas starrer Salaar sold to Netflix at THIS whopping amount

Salaar’s satellite, digital, and audio rights were purchased for a record of Rs. 350 crores.

Salaar has been officially postponed from September 28 to a later date. This is Prashanth Neel’s fourth film as a filmmaker, an action movie produced by KGF franchise makers Hombale Films and starring Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The postponement has caused other films in several industries to change their release dates.

While there have been reports that the film will be released in November or December, a definite decision on Salaar’s release date has yet to be made. Meanwhile, sources suggest that the film’s OTT and satellite deals have been finalised. Netflix, which has been active in its acquisition of Telugu films this year, is said to have acquired the rights for a large fee.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Salaar’s satellite rights have been bagged by Star TV for a record price. The television network has secured the rights to all 5 languages in which Salaar will be released – Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.”

The source continued, “And that’s not all. Netflix has acquired the digital rights of all 5 languages. Again, the price paid by the streaming giant is a record one. Though it’s not known how much Star TV and Netflix paid individually, it is learnt that Salaar’s makers have earned a whopping Rs. 350 through the sale of their satellite, digital and also audio rights.”

The specifics of the satellite rights have not yet been made public. Salaar will be released in two installments. Salaar Part 1: Cease Fire is the title of the first installment. Tinnu Anand, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, Easwari Rao, Saptagiri, and Brahmaji all play important roles in the film, which features music by Ravi Basrur.

Salaar’s cinematographer is Bhuvan Gowda, while its editor is Ujwal Kulkarni. Prashanth Neel will also collaborate with Jr NTR on a project to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Following Salaar, Prabhas will appear in the futuristic tale Kalki 2898 AD, Maruthi’s horror comedy, and Spirit, a cop epic directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga with an exciting cast that stars Deepika Padukone, Kamal Hassan, Amitabh Bachchan, Dulquer Salmaan and Disha Patani.
