Netflix announces the fifth and final season of ‘You’

In 2024, the last season will debut, starring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg.

favoured thriller-mystery programme The fifth and final season of Netflix will premiere in 2024, and Penn Badgley will play Joe Goldberg once more, according to the streaming service.

“Brace yourself for Joe Goldberg’s final chapter. You will return for a fifth and final season in 2024!” Netflix tweeted.

On Friday, Netflix posted a video of Joe Goldberg repeating his well-known one-liners, “hey You” and “hello there,” on social media. “Goodbye you” is said by Goldberg as the video comes to a conclusion.

In a statement, Gamble said working on the show alongside a team of “writers, producers, directors, cast and crew” has been an “honour and ridiculously fun”.

“I feel lucky to have worked with an artist as gifted and thoughtful as Penn Badgely. I’m proud of what we’ve all accomplished and feel privileged to pass the torch. I’m excited to watch and support the ‘You’ team as they bring Joe Goldberg’s journey to its delightfully twisted conclusion,” she said.

For the fifth season, executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over as showrunners from Sera Gamble, who created You with Greg Berlanti and oversaw its first four seasons.

Joe returned to New York City at the end of Season 4 with his new love Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) helping him start over by wiping away all of his mistakes in order to start fresh.

Based on the books of Caroline Kepnes, the psychological suspense series “You” follows serial killer and bookshop manager Joe Goldberg as he falls in love and experiences severe infatuation.

The fourth season of the programme just launched on Netflix. The fourth chapter was divided into two parts by Netflix, with the first half of its 10-episode season debuting on February 9 and the second returning one month later.
