Kangana Ranaut’s fearless reality show ‘Lock Upp: Badass Jail Atyaachaari Khel’ is making controversial headlines every now and then. The OTT show is backed by Ekta Kapoor, where several celebs are locked inside Kangana’s prison. In addition, each and every contestant has managed to grab attention for different reasons. Comedian Munawar Faruqui is one of them, who has come across as fiercest one for his unique personality.

Personal front–
- Munawar Faruqui was born in Gujarat, on 28 January 1992. But his family shifted to Mumbai after their home destroyed during the 2002 communal riots of Gujarat. Sad to say, his mother died when he was only 16 year old.
- Subsequently, his father fell sick and Munawar had to take all the responsibilities at the age of 17.
Professional front-
- Munawar worked as a utensil salesman before starting his career as a standup comedian.
- Moreover, the comedian worked as a graphic designer in his early twenties.
- Munawar went to an advertising shoot, where the makers asked him to pose as they were fell short on the extras. And then, they asked him to go on the stage to speak two lines. Interestingly, he realized that it would be a good fit for him.
- The comedian performed his first Gujrati show ‘Dodh Dahyo’ in Mumbai, 2019.
- In 2020, he started posting his performance on his Youtube channel, surprisingly, it received huge response within no time.
- In 2021, his first ticked show started, another side, he lost his father in the same month.
- Munawar was arrested on 1 January, 2021 after his show ended. He was accused of “insulting” Hindu religious sentiments. The intruder was referring not to a joke Faruqui had made on the stage that day, but one that he’d uploaded on YouTube in April 2020.
- On February 5, the Supreme Court granted him bail after spending 37 days in jail. As per ‘TIME’, “The Court described the allegations laid out against the comic as ‘vague’ and said that the police hadn’t followed procedure while arresting him. It also stayed the warrant from the police in Uttar Pradesh.”
