Comedian Rahul Subramanian’s Amazon special ‘Rahul Talks To People’ to release on THIS date

The stand-up comedian will be seen conversing with six distinct audiences in five cities in an unscripted and unrehearsed manner.

Rahul Subramanian, one of the most well-known comedians in the nation, is featured in the forthcoming crowdsourcing special ‘Rahul Talks to People’ on Amazon Video, and today the hilarious preview for the show was published. The one-hour comedy special’s teaser features the rib-tickling comic performing in Crowdwork, one of his most well-known comedic formats.

For those who are unfamiliar with the term, “Crowdwork” refers to a spontaneous encounter in which a comic engages with seating audiences. In the Amazon special, Rahul will be seen engaging with crowds from Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai.

The comedian’s trademark candour will be on display as he makes gags on a variety of professions and corporate culture, cricket umpiring, demanding jobs, marketing, technology, and more. The show’s director is Pretentious Movie Reviews fame Biswa Kalyan Rath assuring viewers plenty of laughter doses.

Speaking ahead of the Amazon special, Rahul shared, “I am extremely excited (and nervous) to be bringing my Crowdwork Special to streaming audiences across the world, through Prime Video. I enjoy this format a lot, as it requires both the audience as well as myself to be present and in the moment, all the time. The experience of starting from nothing and seeing a joke/funny moment get built from scratch is fulfilling. I hope when people watch this online, they have as much fun as we had in the live shows.”

Although the majority of comedians in India perform scripted shows, crowdwork comedy is not very common there. While many of them engage with the crowd in between acts, such as Abubhav Singh Bassi and Aaksh Gupta, expecting an entire show with no planning and unexpected digs is a lot.

Rahul says, “Unlike the classical stand-up routine, Crowdwork is different as it is completely unscripted and depends heavily on the comedian’s ability to connect with the audience members and find humour on the fly. The unpredictability of the format is what makes it extremely exciting, and challenging. The good thing is we have already done the tough part, and are very pleased with the outcome. Now I am just looking forward to taking this show to a wider audience and (hopefully) make them laugh too.”

On March 30, 2023, in India, Rahul Talks To People will make its world premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
