Dune: Prophecy Season 2 has been confirmed as an official project. Filming of Dune: Prophecy Season 2 finished in March of 2026, and will be airing on HBO/Max later in 2026 (most likely before the third installment of the Dune film series).
Production on Dune: Prophecy Season 2 began in November 2025 in Hungary, Jordan, and Spain with plans for eight episodes (up from the six of Season 1); the story will follow the rise of the Sisterhood (pre-Bene Gesserit), as they navigate political intrigue throughout the Galactic Empire approximately 10,000 years before the beginning of the primary Dune saga. Showrunner Alison Schapker has hinted about deeper connections to factions such as the Spacing Guild and Mentats, along with new plot threads involving power struggles, schemes that are passed down through generations, and resolutions for the cliffhangers from Season 1 (including how Valya and Tula Harkonnen are working together?).
Returning to the cast are Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, and Josh Heuston, along with Jessica Barden (who will be playing the younger Valya). The new cast members will include Indira Varma, Ashley Walters, and Tom Hollander (no details of their respective roles have been announced; Varma was to play a character in Season 1).
Fans are speculating that Season 2 will further elaborate on the lore of the Dune universe – including greater details about Arrakis/Fremen (the promotional videos for Season 2 have highlighted Valya’s travels to Arrakis), as well as political alliances and developments with respect to the Sisterhood and the larger Dune universe. Fans expect that the new season will heighten the sense of intrigue and tension in the Harkonnen family, and set up for future seasons in a multi-season story arc.
Filming has been completed after shooting in both hot and cold weather for lengthy periods of time across large sets, and post-production is being finished now.
