There are many more fascinating and intriguing films and shows to choose from on the list of new OTT releases this week. Those who enjoy historical dramas can watch the much-anticipated second installment of ZEE5’s series Taj: Reign of Revenge, while others can watch Korean Drama Race Season 1 on Disney+ Hotstar, Netflix’s new documentary Queen Cleopatra, and more. This week, we’ve also included new theatrical releases like IB71, Custody, Love Again, and others to the list of new OTT releases.

1. SOMETHING SPECIAL – HANNAH GADSBY – NETFLIX

3. DISNEY+ HOTSTAR RACE SEASON 1

Lee Yeon-hee, Moon Sori, Hong Jonghyun, and Chung Yunho feature in a new Korean drama on Disney+ Hotstar. The first season of the K-drama, Race, follows the story of a young woman who, with the support of her friends, seeks to overcome challenges at her new profession. An engrossing drama that might have you glued to the screen for hours.

 

4. NETFLIX – DANCE BROTHERS

Dance Brothers is a gripping tale about two brothers who desire to be dancers. However, things take a sharp turn when their club proves to be a profitable operation, pushing them away from their creative goals.

5.QUEEN CLEOPATRA (NETFLIX)

The upcoming documentary Queen Cleopatra by Netflix is an interesting addition to this week’s list of new OTT offerings. The new documentary, as the title suggests, will focus on the life of Egypt’s final pharaoh (Queen Cleopatra) and how she fought to preserve her family’s history. Jada Pinkett Smith is supporting the upcoming Netflix documentary.

6. NETFLIX – ULTRAMAN SEASON 3

The creators of Ultraman have returned with the third and final season of the animated series, which follows Shin Hayata, a superhero who battles terrifying extraterrestrial monsters and aliens that threaten Earth.

7. NETFLIX’s ROYALTEEN: PRINCESS MARGRETHE

The new Netflix film Royalteen: Princess Margrethe, which is based on the book Royalteen Prince Charming by Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen, depicts the story of Princess Margrethe, who struggles to lead a normal life despite dealing with all the family drama. Elli Müller Osborne, Sammy Germain Wadi, and Amalie Sporsheim star in the upcoming Netflix film.

8. ZEE5’s TAJ: REIGN OF REVENGE

The creators of Taj: Divided by Blood have returned with a second thrilling season of the historical drama that follows the story of Mughal emperor Akbar and his sons Salim, Murad, and Daniyal after leaving the first season on a cliffhanger. The second installment (Taj: Reign of Revenge), which stars Naseeruddin Shah, Aashim Gulati, Sandhya Mridul, Rahul Bose, and others, will start up where the first installment left off and concentrate on the occasions that shook the Mughal empire.

9. CRATER – DISNEY + HOTSTAR

The new Disney+ Hotstar film Crater, directed by Kyle Patrick Alvarez, centres on Caleb Channing (Russell-Bailey), who is going to be transferred to a new planet after the passing of his father. But before leaving, Channing and his buddies set out on a daring journey to carry out his father’s last desire.

10. DAHAAD – AMAZON PRIME VIDEO.

Dahaad, a film about a police officer (Sonakshi Sinha) assigned to the case of women killing themselves in public restrooms, is set in a small hamlet in Rajasthan. When her investigations show that these fatalities were actually murders rather than suicides, the plot unexpectedly twists. The series’ narrative is comprised of what happens next. Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah, Sohum Shah, and Vijay Varma are the series’ leading actors. It was created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. A slot on your watchlist should be reserved for one of the many intriguing new OTT releases available this week.

11. NEWSENSE – AHA

For Aha’s upcoming Telugu television programme Newsense, actors Navdeep and Bindu Madhavi team up. The series’ gritty narrative is anticipated to highlight the challenges encountered by journalists on the job while revealing the untold side of the media.

12. HULU’s THE GREAT SEASON 3

This week on Hulu, the Emmy Award-winning series The Great will return with a brand-new season. The historical drama, which stars Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult in the key roles, follows the story of Catherine the Great, who travels to Russia to marry Peter III but finds herself drawn into a perilous and backward society.

13. STILL: A MICHAEL J. FOX MOVIE – APPLE TV+
The life of actor Michael J. Fox is the subject of the upcoming biographical documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie on Apple TV. The documentary, directed by Davis Guggenheim, will highlight the actor’s personal and professional achievements after he received a fatal diagnosis at age 29.

14. THE MOTHER – NETFLIX
The Mother, a highly anticipated action thriller from Netflix starring Jennifer Lopez, is included in this week’s list of new OTT releases. Niki Caro’s upcoming film explores the life of a lethal assassin who is compelled to emerge from hiding in order to save the kid she abandoned earlier in her life.

15. LOVE AGAIN – THEATRE

The romance drama Love Again, starring Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan, is among the many new OTT releases this week and is slated to hit theatres this Friday (May 12, 2023). The main character of the upcoming film is a lady who, after her fiance’s death, uses his phone to send texts to her, not realising that another man now has the number. When the latter makes the decision to find her, the plot takes an intriguing turn.
