The epic buildup back in May with the cryptic caption “the dawn ” didn’t leave us disappointed.

The teasers for the song remained in the hype with its placements in the Olympic ads and the news which said it was banned from the IMAX theatres.

The dynamic disco beats and guitar riffs pulsating through our headphones ties up the light mood of the song with its dark-themed video directed by Cliqua.

The plastic masks and oxygen tanks form a nostalgic narrative of his previous albums After Hours where he was covered in blood and facial bandages.

The clip was supposed to be shown in Imax right before “Suicide Squad” but wasn’t because it was suspected it might cause an epilepsy emergency due to its intense strobe lighting nature.

The Weeknd kept dropping hints on his social media ; one of which was titled ‘The Dawn is coming’.  A video of visual aesthetics including a bright yellow sunset panning towards the screen.

The majority of the posted clip was instrumental accompanied by the artist’s soothing vocals at the end when ” Take My Breath”  fades away leaving us all wanting more.

More of  “Take my Breath” was revealed on Monday night in an Olympics promo for the USA’s Women’s track and field team.
