Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been making waves even before it was officially announced. One of the most costly films in Indian history is the multi-star magnum opus, which debuted earlier this month.
The producers have added KGF actor Yash to the cast as Raavan, whereas Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor would play Goddess Sita and Lord Rama, respectively. In addition to starring in the movie, Yash will co-produce this big-budget endeavour.
While speaking with Variety, Yash revealed, “It has been my long-term aspiration to make films that will showcase Indian cinema on a global level. In pursuit of that, I was in L.A. to ally with one of the best VFX studios, and to my amazement, the driving force behind it was a fellow Indian. Namit and I had various ideation sessions, and coincidentally, our synergy on the vision for Indian cinema aligned perfectly. We brainstormed various projects, and during these discussions, the subject of ‘Ramayana’ came up. Namit had a part of it in the works.”
He continued, “The ‘Ramayana,’ as a subject, deeply resonates with me, and I had an approach in my mind for it. By joining forces to co-produce ‘Ramayana’ we are bringing together our collective vision and experience to create an Indian film that will ignite excitement and passion in audiences across the world.”
According to Yash, the ‘Ramayana’ is fundamental to who we are. Even if we think we know the story well, each interaction sheds new light, generates new ideas, and presents different perspectives. “Ramayana” is ingrained in our daily lives.
Though we think we know it all, every interaction reveals new insights, sparks the spark of fresh understanding, and presents distinctive viewpoints. Our goal is to bring this ageless epic to the big screen in a way that respects its grandeur.
But ultimately, it will be a true and accurate depiction of the narrative, the feelings, and the timeless principles that we find so important. This worldwide distribution of the “Ramayana” is an example of our dedication to creative inquiry, bold ideas, and true narrative.
