Why did police register case against makers of Manjummel Boys? Find out

Manjummel Boys was released on February 22, 2024.

Following an order from the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court, the police filed a complaint against the creators of Manjummel Boys. Shawn Antony, Soubin Shahir, and Babu Shahir face charges of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and forgery. Soubin Shahir produced the film under the banner Parava Films, and Chidambaram directed it.

Previously, the court had frozen the bank accounts of Parava Films and its partner, Shawn Antony. The ruling came in response to a suit filed by Siraj, an Aroor local who spent Rs 7 crore on the film’s development.

The petitioner claimed that the producers stole the money by promising a 40% profit share and subsequently defrauded without providing the profit share or investment. Aside from that, the petition said that the film’s makers made an additional Rs 20 crore by giving OTT platform rights.

The court has given a notice to the film’s producers, Soubin and Babu, regarding the petition. Following this, the police filed a complaint against them.

The cast includes Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, and Vishnu Reghu. Sushin Shyam wrote the music.

The story, based on a genuine incident, follows a group of friends whose holiday takes an unexpected turn when one of them becomes trapped inside the Guna Cave in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. Gunaa, starring Kamal Haasan, was filmed in the cave in 1991, earning it the appellation Gunaa Cave.
