Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, is ready to roll and will begin principal photography next month.
In the film, Vicky Kaushal will play Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of the Maratha empire’s founder and legendary warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
While the film will primarily centre on Chhatrapati Sambhaii Maharaj’s sacrifice and combat methods, it will also explore a love story between Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his wife, Yesubai Bhonsale (played by Rashmika Mandanna).
“The film, after witnessing a delay, is all set to start its production in the month of October. Rashmika was always the first choice for the part and was locked after her look test,” a source told IANS.
Chhava will be Kaushal’s second collaboration with filmmaker Laxman Utekar, following their previous film ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ with Sara Ali Khan. The film will be produced by Maddock Films and will be their first historical project.
On the work front, Vicky Kaushal’s next film is The Great Indian Family, while Mandanna was last seen in Mission Mangal with Siddharth Malhotra and will next be seen in Animal with Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
