Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next Hindi-language musical drama film Baiju Bawra is produced by Bhansali Productions. The film stars Ranveer Singh as Baiju Bawra, a rural folk singer, and Alia Bhatt as Panna Bai, a city court singer. Vijay Sethupathi plays Tansen, Jim Sarbh plays Raja Man Singh, Shabana Azmi plays Baiju’s mother, and Jaideep Ahlawat plays Panna Bai’s father.
On Ranveer Singh’s recent spate of disappointments, there have been some purposefully nasty write-ups and thoughtless whispers. Everything is completely out of place. Some have even speculated that Aditya Chopra, who found Ranveer and worked closely with him until recently, has opted to distance himself from the ‘Gunday’ star following his string of flops.
According to a source close to Aditya Chopra, Ranveer Singh will make a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. However, a close friend of Adi Chopra dismisses all of these disparaging remarks about Ranveer’s profession. “Who says Adi and Yash Raj don’t want to work with Ranveer? Adi loves Ranveer and even today Ranveer doesn’t sign a single project without running it through Adi. Ups and downs do not dictate long-term business associations in this industry. Rajesh Khanna had nine flops but he bounced back with Yash Chopra’s Daag. Ranveer too will be back in a big way with Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. It will be the biggest hit of Ranveer’s career.”
Adi’s friend also warns of a new rumour campaign against Ranveer. “They will claim that Ranveer was kicked out of Baiju Bawra.” But, Bhansali has decided to collaborate with Ranveer and Alia on that project.”
