Ranveer Singh’s 83 postponed again; to be released in 2021

Ranveer Singh starrer 83 was postponed from April to Christmas 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic. The film will now release in the year 2021.

The release of Kabir Khan‘s 83 featuring Ranveer Singh, as the well-known cricketer Kapil Dev, has been postponed to 2021.

The film was originally set to release in April 2020. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the release was pushed to Christmas 2020. Now the release has been pushed furthermore to the year 2021 instead.

Shibashish Sarkar, CEO of Reliance Entertainment confirmed the holdup of the film’s release. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Sarkar mentioned, “Christmas is no longer a possibility as we won’t be able to set up a marketing campaign within a month. Also, the overseas markets are important for both films and some of them have shut again due to the second wave of Covid.” Discussing films 83 and Sooryavanshi, he added, “We’re looking at the January and March windows for 83 and Sooryavanshi.”

The film ’83’ will depict the victory achieved by the Indian Cricket team by earning the ICC Cricket World Cup for the first time in 1983. The film stars the couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone as Kapil Dev and his wife Romi. The film also features an ensemble cast, including Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, and Ammy Virk.
