Ramayana: Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi’s movie to begin shooting next week? Here’s what we know

It’s only March, yet it already feels like we’ve heard and seen a lot about the things we’re about to see. One of the most anticipated films is Ramayana: Part One, a large-scale dramatisation of the ancient epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film has generated headlines and has been a highlight for months.

While previous reports hinted that it would begin production shortly, the most recent news today provides an exact date when Nitesh and his team will begin filming for the magnum opus. If this is correct, shooting will begin next week, and Ranbir Kapoor will not be involved.

According to the latest reports, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana adaptation will premiere on April 2, 2024, which is two days from today. According to Pinkvilla, the filmmaker would begin shooting on this day, starting with a set created in Mumbai’s Film City. The arrangement is claimed to resemble a gurukul and will feature green screen effects. This schedule includes the scenes where Ram, Bharat, and Laxman are still children in the gurukul; therefore, child actors will play them. Actor Shishir Sharma has been cast as Guru Vasishtha.

For the time being, the identities of the child artists remain unknown. The film will be the first of a trilogy, and the filmmakers are taking great care to tell the story accurately.

However, there is one major update: Ranbir Kapoor will not be part of this schedule because Lord Ram is still a youngster in this sequence. But this does not imply the actor is free. Ranbir will fly to Los Angeles next week for the final round of 3D scanning for Ramayana. We’ve heard he’s been to Los Angeles several times in recent months for scans, and this will be his last visit. The actor will join the team on set in mid-April.

Previous reports stated that the producers will do a special puja for Ram Navami this year, which occurs on April 9, 2024. Ramayana includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Yash as Ravana, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Bobby Deol as Kumbhakaran, and Lata Dutta as Kaikeyi. There are also reports that Amitabh Bachchan has been cast as King Dasharath. However, no confirmations have yet been issued.

Nitesh Tiwari intends to shoot Ramayana: Part One from April to July and release it on Diwali 2025.
